La Marque, Texas is in Galveston County.  All probate cases in which the deceased was or the proposed ward is domiciled in Galveston County are held before the Galveston County Probate Court.  This would include estates and guardianships.  This would include probating a will, which usually must be filed for probate within 4 years of death.  If there is no will, an administration,  Application for Heirship, or Affidavit for Collection must proceeding be filed, which will be determined by the facts of the particular case.  If there is no need for an administration, the will can be admitted as a muniment of title, to show title, to show who inherits under a will,  If the person dies with out a will, an adminstration can be filed.  Alternately, an Application to Determine Heirship can be filed if the either is no will or an administration if not necessary.  Estates in which the value of the property is $50,000.00 or less and there is no need for an administration, a Small Estate Affidavit or Affidavit for Collection can be filed in an abbreviated proceeding, to reflect the transfer to title.
